ENG On Friday 20/03 we opened this exhibition, a collaboration between Francesca Vam and Ilaria Martinelli (Changing Chains). A project that explores the body as a territory of memory, awareness and liberation. Second Coming, Machine and hand embroidery on vintage doilies, 2026 What would it feel like to be born again with the knowledge your mind and your body hold? I'm experimenting with new techniques and themes, lately. I'm growing fond of what embroidery does to my body and my mind. There's a certain level of meditation in the repetitive act of stitching and a great amount of care. It's care towards the work, but also care for my story and my past. It feels like with every stitch some parts of me come together, mended. It's a whole range of different emotions and feelings in the quiet act of piercing the fabric with the needle. On the weekend, we sew. Last weekend I took part in one of the best workshops I've ever attended, hosted by @ciaraoconnorartist at @flux_dublin. After 10 years without touching a sewing machine, I had the pleasure of learning some new techniques and falling in love with sewing again. Ciara shown her machine embroidery method, a mix of applique and free drawing. Her demonstrations were extremely clear and she was so generous with tips and suggestions. I definitely had the best time and left feeling super inspired. If you are looking for a different way to spend the weekend and to learn some new skills, I highly recommend this!
