About Francesca Vam
Francesca Vam is an Italian visual artist based in County Kildare, Ireland. After a career in fashion and beauty, she shifted her focus to visual art, developing a practice rooted in collage, textiles and mixed media.
Her work begins with instinct, often starting with an image or a piece of fabric, allowing her hands to guide the process. Meaning emerges only once the piece is complete, as if uncovering something that was already waiting to be seen.
Through her art, Francesca explores how personal experience shapes ideas of femininity and how themes of trauma and loss can transform into understanding and growth. She uses muted colours, soft textures and blurred imagery to evoke the evanescent quality of dreams and memory, moments that slip between clarity and disappearance. Fabric and collage, drawn from her fashion background, become a language of material and emotion, creating layers that invite viewers to linger, reflect and connect.
Since moving to Ireland, Francesca has become an active member of the local creative community and a founding member of the An Scrioblàil Collective, an artist-led initiative promoting collaboration and access to the arts in rural areas. For her, art is a meeting point: each work opens a quiet space where private experiences can find recognition in others and imagination can roam free.
